NAACP returns Facebook donation, calls for boycott

Interesting: The NAACP has returned a donation from Facebook and called for a daylong boycott of the social network Tuesday following revelations of how its platform was used to manipulate black voters in the 2016 presidential election.

They want a boycott of fb and twit Tues, Dec. 18th.

I'd like to do my part, but I boycott 24/7/365 so I doubt they'd notice my absent absence :-)

@gemlog Ach, I'd have done this if I'd known about it in advance. Bleh.

I'd like to get off FB permanently, but I can't afford the communication loss that would ensue.

@JubalBarca One of my kids whines a bit sometimes, but I never took to it - I already knew who zuck was before it hit the bigtime. No interest. Just lucky I guess.

@gemlog I think it's very dependent on friendship groups, life situation, etc. I'm quite isolated sometimes anyway due to living in a fairly new country (and being very introverted generally), so reducing that support network would be quite tricky for me. But yes, FB best avoided if you can, I think!
